The primrose is one of the first flowers to bloom in spring. Its name actually comes from the Latin word ‘primus’, which means ‘first’. So, many believe that it has a meaning of youth, renewal and optimism. In the Victorian era, when floriography was really popular and everyone passed secret messages to each other through flowers (we definitely need to bring this trend back), it was thought that giving someone a primrose was a sign of young love…how cute is that?
